Portraits drawn on tracing paper

This page shows one of my university projects.  My work was inspired by an album of old family photographs.  I explored the feeling that the people were both there and not there, just out of reach, as well as the feeling of an immediate connection in the present with people from many years ago.  I experimented with a range of techniques involving transparency - drawing on tracing paper, digital printing onto fabric, projection and drawings contained within glass.  This was the point at which portraits became a particularly important part of my work.
